In Brugge

Our ride today (June 11) took us from Dunkirk, France to Brugge, Belgium -- our third country in as many days. Belgium is extremely bike-friendly, with bike lanes everywhere and car drivers who treat cyclists with courtesy and respect. Brugge is a beautiful city, famed for its intact medieval architecture. The historic city center, where we are staying, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000. An added feature, especially for hungry cyclists like us, is the fact that excellent Belgian chocolate shops can be found on virtually every block.
