Dutch Treat

Holland is an ideal place to bike, both because of its geography and its remarkable system of bike paths. The terrain is extremely flat, and virtually every road (in the countryside and in cities and towns) has a wide, well-kept, bike path along it. The paths even have their own signs and stop lights. Because of these factors, there are cyclists everywhere and of all types, including the young, the elderly, families, and serious racers.

Our Monday ride took us to Eindhoven, Holland, where Philips (the electronics and medical equipment giant) was founded and still has a significant presence. Of note is that Philips used its resources to save the lives of many Jews during the Holocaust.

Bike paths comprise a road system parallel to the one for cars
